Let's talk chapters 10-14

"We can't behave like people in novels though, can we?"

Welcome to another week’s installment of audio for our Age of Innocence read-a-long. This week, I’m chatting through chapters 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 in our longest reading assignment yet — and there’s plenty to gab about.

A week at the ALA

At the start of this week’s audio, I also talk about my very recent experience at the American Literature Association, where I presented with the Edith Wharton Society last week in lovely, humid, delicious Chicago.

It was a wonderful experience and I can’t wait to *fingers crossed* get my research packaged up in a more formal format to send off in hopes of publication. I haven’t sent work out for years; I’m a nervous Nelly about it but I’m also so excited by the idea of having a research project that it’s outweighing the nerves.

For now.

Anyway! Tune into today’s audio talk-through of the plot to learn a bit about that experience — as well as the theme I was tracking most in this week’s chapters: Newland Archer’s unreliability as a narrator.

‘Til then, happy reading! 📚
