I cannot wait but didn't have time to order till today; so it will arrive within the week, but once it does, I'll be all over this, Haley. Thank you so much for whetting our whistles (sorry for the pun!) and stoking our enthusiasm for this novella!
Closely Reading Community - I started rereading The Great Gatsby last week in observance of its 100th anniversary of its publication. A study guide I’m using for my read recommend watching the miniseries “America - The Story of Us” episode #8 to get a good feel for what was going on it the 1920’s in the US. Episode #9 deals with the Great Depression. If you have access to this series I recommend watching these episodes for some nice background for these time periods in history. (I had purchased this series awhile back on Prime when my children were studying US History, but perhaps it can be streamed for free now.)
Haley - What a delightful surprise it was for me to learn that you earned your PhD from Purdue! My husband and I both went there. I believe I took one literature course and the only book I recall reading was Beowulf 🥴. BOILER UP!
Boiler up!! This is so great. Thanks for writing, KJ! I hope you're enjoying the novella — I'm very interested to check out this series you've recommended.
Can't wait! I'll (metaphorically) crack the spine of my copy today and return to this comment section when I have read chapter 1!
