Great post, Haley! It made me so nostalgic to be back on campus...this time of year always does. But I love how you point out that you don't need to be heading to grad school to recreate these intense periods of study. As I'm starting work on a new project (which scares me!) I particularly needed the reminder to allow the first drafts to be shit! Thank you :)
As a 71 year old that loved school, I appreciate that learning can and should continue our whole life. I still enjoy picking tough books and subjects, also glad no more deadlines and grades!

Thank you, Kate!! I’m glad the reminder was helpful. That’s the one I usually need most, too!!
What a wonderful Substack. I'm so glad I found you!
Amazing!! I'm so glad you found me, too!! Looking forward to checking out your Substack.
Thank you for the support. You are very, very kind.
It’s been a little over a month since I started my master’s and the last couple of weeks have felt quite difficult, but this post really helped.
I am so happy to hear that!! <3
That is so beautifully written and such an insightful text. I will recommend it to students and mention the key points in class.
This is immensely helpful and delightful. Thank you from the first year environmental humanities cohort at the University of Utah :)
I hope your first semester is going wonderfully!!!

I agree with you: learning does not end just because school does! And now we get to do it on our own deadlines 💕
